Create a firmware floppy: unzip this kit into a directory on your hard disk. Insert a blank, formatted floppy into your floppy drive and copy the kit contents to the floppy. Label this floppy, "AlphaBIOS V5.70 AlphaPC 164LX/164SX firmware." 2. Shut down your AlphaPC and reboot it. This may be done by selecting the "Shutdown and Restart" option in the "Shutdown Computer" logoff popup window. Proceed to the next step when you are at the AlphaBIOS Boot Menu. 3. When the AlphaBIOS Boot Menu appears, note the version at the top of the screen. If it is 5.70, then Congratulations! You already have this firmware installed and you do not need to update your firmware. To install Windows NT, read the Configuration Guide (or Release Notes) that came with your Windows NT kit. You can also obtain a copy of the Configuration Guide at our World Wide Web site, at the URL at the top of this document. If the current AlphaBIOS version is not 5.70 or above, then an update of the firmware may be needed in order to run Windows NT; proceed to step 4 to upgrade. 4. Insert the "AlphaBIOS V5.70 AlphaPC 164LX/164SX firmware" floppy into your floppy drive. 5. Press F2 to enter the Setup menu. 6. Select "Upgrade AlphaBIOS" and press Enter. 7. The update process begins. Follow the instructions on the screen. If you encounter any difficulties in updating the firmware, call your system vendor technical support line for further assistance. Your firmware update is complete. ················································································
