            Installation Manual
            -------------------

The Windows NT operating system requires that the tapedrive drivers identify and connect to
all the devices it supports. To do this each driver includes a hard coded table of devices that
it supports. The drivers included in this kit are modified versions of the standard 4mm driver
and DLT driver for Windows NT version 3.5 . The only change is the addition of more Digital
tape drives.

	4mmdat supports	TLZ06, TLZ06L, TLZ07, TLZ07L
	DLTtapes supports	TZ85, TZ857, TZ86, TZ865, TZ867, TZ87, TZ875, TZ877

This kit includes both the Intel ( 4mmdat.x86 dlttape.x86) and Alpha ( 4mmdat.axp dlttape.axp)
versions of the driver.

To install the driver first install the standard Windows NT driver. Start the Windows NT
Setup program in the "MAIN" group. under the "Options" menue select the "Add/Remove Tape
Devices..." Item. Select 4mm DAT drive driver or DLT drive, and press the "add" button. At
this point Windows NT will ask for the Windows NT distribution media and installs the standard
driver. The driver file "4mmdat.sys" or "DLTtape.sys" is placed in the Windows\System32\drivers
directory. Rename the xxxx.sys file to something like xxxx.old to save it. Copy/rename the
4mmdat.x86, 4mmdat.axp, dlttape.x86 or dlttape.axp driver in this kit to
Windows/system32/drivers/4mmdat.sys or dlttape.sys to replace the original. When the system is
rebooted the driver will locate and connect to any drive supported by the original driver and
the new Digital drives and drives with loaders.

This driver is provided for the benifit Digital Equipment customers. Comments or other
communication can be sent to me ( Steve Peters ) on Compuserve or my internet address
