		  DAC960NT.SYS driver for Alpha systems
			    Version 4.16

			       for the

		    Digital Equipment Corporation
	   RAID Array 210/230/230Plus family of controllers
								 
		  Last modified on April 24, 1998

 Note that this driver is for ALPHA CPU based Windows NT installations
 only. If you are performing a new installation of Windows NT, use the
 DAC960NT.SYS driver on the Windows NT CDROM. Once you have installed 
 Windows NT, proceed with the following instructions to install the 
 new DAC960NT.SYS driver.


 How to install this driver:

    Create or update a NT System Rescue Disk via the RDISK.EXE utility.
    Consult your Windows NT system documentation for more information on
    this procedure. This step will facilitate recovery should anything
    go wrong later in this procedure.

You may install the new driver through Windows NT setup on NT 3.51 (A
instructions), through SCSI adapters on NT 4.0 (B instructions) or
copying the driver into the appropriate place (C instructions).


A instructions: WNT 3.51

 1A) Copy the OEMSETUP.INF and DAC960NT.SYS files to the top level of a
     FAT formatted floppy. Use this floppy when you are asked to insert
     disk with SCSI Driver provided by the software or hardware 
     manufacturer.

 2A) From the MAIN program group double click on Windows NT setup.

 3A) Click on Options, then click Add/Remove SCSI Adapters

 4A) Highlight Mylex DAC960/DEC SWXCR-Ex, click Remove button

 5A) Click OK button, to removing SCSI adapters message

 6A) Click OK button, Are you sure you want to remove the Adapter Message

 7A) In the SCSI Adapter Setup dialog, click Add button
 
 8A) Click OK button, to Are you sure you want to add a SCSI Adapter Message

 9A) Click on down arrow and scroll to bottom

 10A) Click other, then click OK button

 11A) Mylex DAC960/DEC SWXCR-Ex should be highlighted, click OK button

 12A) Click Install button

 13A) Click New button

 14A) Specify floppy, typically A:\, if not default, click continue button

 15A) Click Close button

 16A) Click on Options, select Exit, click on OK

 17A) Reboot the system.


B instructions: WNT 4.0

 1B) Copy the OEMSETUP.INF and DAC960NT.SYS files to the top level of a
     FAT formatted floppy. Use this floppy when you are asked to insert
     disk with SCSI Driver provided by the software or hardware 
     manufacturer.

 2B) Click on start button, highlight settings then click on Control Panel

 3B) Double click on SCSI adapters Icon

 4B) Click on Drivers tab

 5B) Highlight Mylex DAC960/DEC SWXCR-Ex, click Remove button.

 6B) Click Yes, to Are you sure you want to remove this driver Message

 7B) In the SCSI Adapter window, click Add button
 
 8B) Click, Have Disk button

 9B) Specify floppy, typically A:\, if not default, Click OK button

 10B) Mylex DAC960/DEC SWXCR-Ex should be highlighted, click OK button

 11B) Click New button

 12B) Specify floppy, typically A:\, if not default, Click Continue button

 13B) Click Yes button, to restart computer


C Instructions:

 1C) Rename the following file:

    \%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\drivers\DAC960NT.SYS

    to DAC960NT.old.

    %SYSTEMROOT% is directory where WNT is installed

 2C) Copy the new driver, DAC960NT.SYS, to the following directory:

    \%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\drivers

 3C) Reboot the system.
