This is a port of MAME/MAME32 version 0.35 Final to the AlphaNT platform.

There are two executables for this port. One has been compiled so it
will run on any Alpha CPU. The other has been complied to take advantage
of specific features in the 21164A and later CPUs. It will NOT run on
CPUs before the 21164A. The executables are in a subdirectory of the
Alpha.AXP directory. Copy the MAME32.EXE file from the Generic or
21164A directory to the MAME32 directory.

In case you mix up the executables, hereare the stats:

  Generic compile - MAME32.EXE 07/19/1999 10:30PM 8,643,584 bytes
  21164A+ compile - MAME32.EXE 07/19/1999 10:22PM 7,759,872 bytes

You can also ID which is which by looking at the Properties/Version tab.
The "Special Build Description" entry of the 21164A and later version
will indicate "This .EXE file is for Alpha 21164A and later CPUs only.".

(I do want to make the install easier. Has anyone figured out how to
_easily_ use Installshield? I don't find it very intuitive...)

For sound, set your default sound settings to MIDAS. The basic directsound
support does not work well at all. (Which is odd because MIDAS uses
directsound for it's output and it seems to work quite well...)

This distribution now includes the MAMEOPL.SYS device driver. To install
it, logon as Administrator (or with an ID that has Admin rights),
open a command window and run the INSTOPL.BAT file. This step is NOT
required, but some emulations need this to play all of the sounds.

TIPS: If you start the emulator and only have half a screen, change the
Display Option "Double display size" to "Vertical scan lines".

The emulator will hog the machine. If you plan to run stuff in the
background, use Task Manager to set the MAME32 process priority to
LOW or run MAME32 via the start command with the /low switch.

If you have any specific problems, please drop me a note.
