                NTMail for Windows NT i386 Version 4.01
                =======================================

We hope you read this before upgrading - if not, never mind since the
SETUP program will have saved your current installation in the BACKUP
directory. Please make your own copy by reading the notes below
though!  There are several  things that have changed between versions
which are not obvious and could cause you to think that everything has
broken...  these are noted below.

Version 4.0 of NTMail is completely different to all previous versions
of NTMail and the registry is not compatable with previous versions.
The setup program will automatically convert the registry entries in
all previous versions to the format required for Version 4 to
function.

Whats New in Version 4.01
=========================
+   Dialup Configuration simplified and more flexible, backup
    connection added. If isapi.dll presnt on system will use RAS
    setting
+   Lists re-worked and GUI improved
+   Read/Write/Respond to mail messages through the web interface
+   IE4 displays web mail client correctly

+   POP crashing after reading mailboxes with large numbers of messages
+   POST not sending mail queues due to flags being set in the mail queue
    directories
+   Mail now correctly rejected if MX lookup fails on MAIL or RCPT clause

Whats New in Version 4.0
========================
With the release of Version 4 NTMail has been completely rewritten to
provide many new features and to make better use of the facilities
provided by NT4 and the forthcoming NT5. It will still run on NT3.51
but is perhaps more suited to the later releases of NT.

+   All configuration through a WWW Interface
+   Post queue optimised for speed of sending
+   New ESMTP commands supported including ETRN, PIPELINING, 8BITMIME,
    SIZE, RESTART & RECOVERY, ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
+   New scripting language introduced, Mail Meta Language, allowing
    the interface to NTMail to be completely customised. Scripts can
    also be used to interact with mail messages at all stages of an
    SMTP transaction
+   DLL's can now be used in many different places, such as incoming
    mail, outgoing mail, etc. They can also be stacked, i.e. an
    incoming messaged can be passed to more than one DLL
+   WWW Proxy introduced
+   Dial-up facility integrated into NTMail
+   Comprehensive set of Log Management options
+   Facility to automatically notify support of major problems
+   Improved set of security features
+   SMTP can now insert messages at the end of all mail messages


Upgrade Notes
=============
+   If you are using the gateway to fax (LGFax), this function has
    been moved into a DLL in version 4.  This DLL is available in the
    NTMail Option Pack at no charge.  Please contact support before
    using this DLL.
