I.D. INSTALLING THE WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS DRIVER

These instructions will be divided into two sections:

        - Installing the DEPEA drivers during an installation of Windows for
          Workgroups.

        - Installing the DEPEA drivers on a PC that already has Windows for
          Workgroups installed.

I.D.1 Installing the DEPEA drivers during an installation of Windows for
          Workgroups.

        a. The installation kit for Windows for Workgroups is comprised of
eight diskettes. During the installation of diskette #8, the
           network environment will be configured.

The installation process will ask for which network device
           to use.

Select the first option - "Unlisted adapter ..."

        b. When the vendor provided diskette is requested, remove the Windows
for Workgroups (WFW) diskette #8 from the floppy drive and insert
this (DEPEA) distribution diskette. (This is to load OEMSETUP.INF.)

        c. Type the path to where the the file is located as follows:

           ex. A:\WINWGRP

*NOTE* DO NOT INCLUDE THE FILENAME AS PART OF THE PATH !!!

        d. Once the file, OEMSETUP.INF, is loaded, the installation process
will show that "DIGITAL DEPEA Ethernet Adapter" has been
           selected.

Select "Continue" to proceed with the remainder of the installation.

        e. Once the adapter has been selected and loaded, the installation
process will ask for WFW diskette #8 once again to load the file
           PROTMAN.DOS.

Remove the distribution diskette from the floppy drive and insert
the Windows for Workgroups (WFW) diskette #8.

Press "Continue" to continue the installation.

        f. After PROTMAN.DOS has been loaded, the installation process will
ask for the diskette with DEPEA.DOS located on it. Once again,
remove the WFW diskette #8 and insert this distribution diskette.

At the prompt for the path, type one of the following:

           ex. A:\WINWGRP

*NOTE* DO NOT INCLUDE THE FILENAME AS PART OF THE PATH !!!

        g. Once the driver has been loaded, the installation process will
ask for the WFW diskette #8 once again.

           Press "Continue" to complete installation.

I.D.2 Installing the DEPEA drivers on a PC that already has Windows for
          Workgroups installed.

        a. Start Windows for Workgroups on the PC.

        b. Select the "Control Panel".

        c. Select "Network"

        d. Click on the "Adapters" button.

        e. Click on the "Add..." button.

        f. Select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" and click on "OK"

        g. Put the distribution diskette into Drive A:
At the prompt for the path, type one of the following and click
           on "OK"

           ex. A:\WINWGRP

*NOTE* DO NOT INCLUDE THE FILENAME AS PART OF THE PATH !!!

        j. In the table labeled "Select a Network Adapter to Install:"

"DIGITAL DEPEA Ethernet Adapter" should appear as a selection.

Select this adapter from the table and click "OK".

        k. Click on "OK" again to return to the Network Adapters in Use Screen.
           Click on "Close".

        n. The Network Setting Screen is now displayed. Click on "OK"
           This message will appear:

Click on "Restart Windows" to have the
                  changes take effect.

However, this procedure modifies CONFIG.SYS. Therefore, the PC
will actually need to be rebooted for these changes to take effect.

    USER NOTES
    -----------

    1. If IRQ or IO base is selected as 0 for auto-detect while setup, you can
ignore the warning message about 'invalid or conflict configuration'
reported by Windows for Workgroup setup.
