Install Guide

- Windows 3.1x -

The Digital LA400 MultiPrinter Driver for Windows 3.1x can be
installed by following these steps:

1.  In Windows 3.1x, open "Control Panel". 
    Double click on the Printers icon.
    Insert your driver diskette into your PC drive A: .

2.  In the "Printers" window, click on "Add", then click on "Install".
    The "Install Driver" window appears. 

3.  Click on "Browse". In the "Browse" window, select drive A:, and 
    doubleclick on the directory WIN31, then doubleclick on the 
    directory SETUP.
    When the directory A:\WIN31\SETUP is selected, click OK.

4.  In the "Install Driver" window, with the directory A:\WIN31\SETUP 
    selected, click OK. 
    The "Add Unlisted or Updated Printer" window appears.
    Check that the "Digital LA400 MultiPrinter" is selected in the 
    "List of Printers", click OK.

5.  A new instance of the "Install Driver" window appears, prompting you
    for the location of the international version of the UNIDRV.DLL file. 
    Select the directory A:\WIN31\ENGLISH and click OK.

    There will be a slight delay while the appropriate files are copied to
    your Windows System directory.
 
6.  The printer driver is now installed and is in the "Installed Printers"
    list. 
    Check that the printer is set as the "Default Printer". 
    If not, click on "Set As Default Printer".

    If required, printer settings can be changed from the Control Panel.


- Windows 95 -

The Digital LA400 MultiPrinter Driver for Windows 95 can be
installed by either of 2 methods described below:

A. Plug and Play Printer Detection.

   1.  Windows 95 automatically detects the printer at installation time or
       during the boot process.

   2.  Plug and Play prompts you for the appropriate files if they are not 
       resident in the Windows directory, by displaying the 
       "New Hardware Found" dialog box.

   3.  From the "New Hardware Found" dialog box select the option 
       "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" and click "OK".

   4.  The "Install from disk" dialog box is displayed prompting you 
       to select the drive and directory containing the installation disk.

   5.  Insert the Printer driver installation disk into the A: drive.
       Use the "Browse" button to select sub-directory WIN95\SETUP of 
       drive A: and click "OK".

   6.  Follow steps 8. to 10. in "B. Install from Printers Folder". 

B. Install from Printers folder.

   1.  Click the "Start" button, point to "Settings", and then click
       "Printers".

   2.  Doubleclick "Add Printer".

   3.  The Add Printer Wizard appears. Click "Next>". In the next window,
       select "Local" printer and click "Next>".

   4.  Click "Have Disk" from the next dialog and the "Install from disk"
       dialog box is displayed prompting you to select the drive and
       directory containing the installation disk.

   5.  Insert the Printer driver installation disk into the A: drive. 
       Using the "Browse" button, select sub-directory WIN95\SETUP of 
       drive A: and click "OK".

   6.  A dialog box displays the model-name "Digital LA400 MultiPrinter".
       Click "Next>" to continue.

   7.  A list of available Ports appears. Select an appropriate Port, 
       usually LPT1:, and click "Next>".

   8.  A dialog appears prompting you for the Printer name. 
       Type an appropriate name or use the one supplied and click "Next>".

   9.  The next dialog prompts you to print a test page. 
       Select "Yes" or "No" and click "Finish".

   10. A number of driver files are copied from the installation disk.
       A new dialog box appears, prompting you for the location of the 
       file UNIDRV.DLL.
       Select the directory A:\WIN95\ENGLISH and click OK.
  
   When all files have been copied and the driver is installed a dialog 
   appears for you to enter the result of test page printout.
   Depending on whether the test page was printed correctly or not 
   click "Yes" or "No".
   
   The Digital LA400 MultiPrinter Windows 95 printer driver is
   now installed.
