                     ALL-IN-1[TM] Web Interface, Version 1.0

                             READ BEFORE INSTALLING

Read this document to find out about the disk space
and other installation requirements before you continue
installing the ALL-IN-1 Web Interface. This document also
contains the release notes for the ALL-IN-1 Web Interface.

        1 Prerequisite Software

You can use the ALL-IN-1 Web Interface with ALL-IN-1
              Version 3.2 or ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 with TeamLinks[TM]
              Connection Version 2.5.

On Digital UNIX[TM] and Windows NT[TM], the ALL-IN-1 Web
Interface can only use TCP/IP to connect to ALL-IN-1.

On OpenVMS, the ALL-IN-1 Web Interface can only use
              DECnet[TM] to connect to ALL-IN-1.

Table 1 lists the supported web servers.

             ________________________ Note ________________________

If you are using the Purveyor Web Server for OpenVMS,
text documents will contain additional carriage
returns and line feeds. This is a restriction of the
             Purveyor Web Server for OpenVMS.

The following web servers are not supported:

o Purveyor Web Server for OpenVMS Version 1.1A or earlier.
The Common Gateway Interface does not support passing on
non-text files, for example, WPS-PLUS files.

2 Installation Notes for All Installations

The following general notes apply to installations on all
              supported platforms:

              ___________________________________________________________
              Topic_________________Information__________________________

Installation node The installation must be done on
the node on which your web server is
                                    installed.

              ___________________________________________________________

Where to install The ALL-IN-1 Web Interface files must
the ALL-IN-1 Web be installed within the hierarchy of
              Interface files your web server.

                                    The ALL-IN-1 Web Interface software
runs as a Common Gateway Interface
(CGI) program so you may need to
                                    install the ALL-IN-1 Web Interface
files in the CGI directory for your
                                    web server. Check the documentation
                                    for your web server.

              ___________________________________________________________

Back up your system Digital recommends that you back up
                                    your system before installing any
                                    software. Use the backup procedures
                                    established at your site.

              ___________________________________________________________

Installation During the installation you are asked
questions to supply the name of a directory for
the AWI files. You are not asked any
                                    additional questions on Digital UNIX
                                    or Windows NT.

On OpenVMS, you are asked if you want
                                    to run the Installation Verification
                                    Procedure (IVP). It is recommended
that you run the IVP. The IVP is
                                    installed in SYS$TEST:AWI$IVP.COM so
you can rerun it at any time after
                                    the installation.

                                                                        3

Setting Up and Customizing guide is
installed in the directory that you
                                specify. The files are AWI_DOC.PS
                                (PostScript[R]) and AWI_DOC.TXT
                                (ASCII).

                                This README.TXT file is also
                                installed in the same directory.

Setup tasks When you have completed the
                                installation, you must do some
                                postinstallation tasks to configure
your web server to use the AWI and
                                prepare your ALL-IN-1 system.

                                The setup and customization tasks
are described in the ALL-IN-1 Web
                                Interface Setting Up and Customizing

    3 Installing on Digital UNIX

You need approximately 500 kilobytes of disk space to
          install the AWI.

To install the AWI on Digital UNIX, do the following:

          1. Log in to an account with superuser privileges.

          2. Change directory to the location of the Digital UNIX
             files on the CD-ROM:

             # cd /mnt/unix

where mnt is the device where the CD-ROM is mounted and
unix is the location of the Digital UNIX files on the
             CD-ROM.

          3. Install the AWI:

             # ./install

    4

              4. Follow the installation instructions.

        4 Installing on Windows NT

You need approximately 250 kilobytes of disk space to
              install the AWI.

To install on Windows NT, do the following:

              1. The WIN32 directory on the CD-ROM contains
subdirectories for supported architectures, for example,
                 ALPHA and INTEL.

              2. In the directory for your architecture, double click on
the SETUP.EXE file to start the AWI installation.

              3. Follow the installation instructions.

5 Installing on OpenVMS VAX or OpenVMS Alpha

The AWI installation requires the following amount of disk
              space:

              ___________________________________________________________
              Location_____________________________Blocks________________

Total required on kit working 1810
device to install in safety mode on
              VAX or Alpha

AWI files installed on system disk 1400
              (VAX or Alpha)

Target disk for AWI files on VAX 60

Target disk for AWI files on Alpha 100

              ___________________________________________________________

To install the AWI, enter the following from the SYSTEM
              account:

              $ SET DEFAULT SYS$UPDATE
              $ @VMSINSTAL AWI010 device:[OPENVMS]

where device is the device where the CD-ROM is mounted
and OPENVMS is the directory where the OpenVMS files are
              located on the CD-ROM

              Follow the installation instructions.

                                                                        5

    6 Known Problems and Restrictions

6.1 Using the Purveyor Web Server for Windows NT or OpenVMS

If you are using the Purveyor Web Server for Windows NT
or OpenVMS, you must set the NLisCRLF option in the AWI
configuration file to 1. See Section 2.1 in the ALL-IN-1
Web Interface Setting Up and Customizing Guide.

    6.2 DECnet/OSI Fullname Support

DECnet/OSI fullnames are not supported. You must specify
the Phase IV shortname, for example, mynode. You cannot use
the fullname, which could be, for example, DEC:.LOC.mynod.

6.3 Documents with Corrupted Last Modified Date

This note only applies to versions of the ALL-IN-1 Web
Interface on Windows NT on INTEL.

If a document in a folder contains a corrupted Last
Modified: date, web clients will not be able to list any
of the documents in the folder. A workaround for this is
to use the File text (FT) option to create a new version
of the document and delete the corrupted version. Note that
you may need to update the Author: field on the document to
          add the original author.

6.4 Documents with a Blank Last Modified: Field

This note only applies to versions of the ALL-IN-1 Web
          Interface on Digital UNIX.

If a document in a folder does not have a value in the
Last Modified: date field, web clients will not list this
document or any subsequent documents in the folder. A
workaround for this is to use the File text (FT) option
to create a new version of the problem document and delete
the corrupted version. Note that you may need to update the
Author: field on the document to add the original author.

    6

        6.5 Documents with Attachments

If a document has attachments, the file size that is given
to the browser client is the total size for the document
              plus any attachments.

Note that attachments cannot be read. The following error
              is displayed:

              Error 403 - Forbidden

        6.6 WPS-PLUS[TM] Documents

The AWI does not do any data conversions. The contents
of a document in the File Cabinet are passed unchanged
to the client browser. Invoking an appropriate viewer or
converting documents must be done by the client browser.

If you have a large number of WPS-PLUS documents that
you plan to publish, it is recommended that you convert
them to a more widely available format and publish the
converted documents. TeamLinks Versions 2.5 and higher
              provide WPS-PLUS converters.
