AlphaServer ES40, ES40cv, ES40lp, TS20 and TS40
Update Option Firmware Procedure
Use this method only if you your  AlphaServer system does not have a CD drive. If your system has a CD drive, you can save time by creating a bootable CD using the .iso image from a Windows PC using standard CD-write software Please refer to the Alpha Systems  Firmware Web Site to obtain the firmware CD .iso image.

Update from Floppy Diskette Procedure
To update option firmware from floppy diskette requires the following:
  1. Bootable Floppy Diskette which contains the Loadable Firmware Utility Refer to Creating a Bootable Floppy Diskette via Windows or via Tru64Unix
  2. Option Firmware Diskette 1 Zip and Option Firmware Diskette 2 Zip

Download and Extract Option Firmware ZIP Files
Load and Update Option Firmware Note: Enter text or invoke an action that is highlighted below in bold type.

  • After you have created the bootable diskette, Boot the Bootable Floppy Diskette
    to invoke the LFU which will respond with the following prompt:

    If you want to load the options firmware, please enter the device on which
    the files are located(dva0),or just hit the [Enter] key to proceed with a standard
    console update:    [ Type dva0 then Press the Enter Key]

    Please enter the name of the options firmware files list, or
    Hit [return] to use the default filename (es40fw.txt) :

  • Remove Bootable Floppy Diskette then Insert Options Diskette 1 then Press the Enter Key

    The LFU reads the es40fw.txt file then loads the option firmware into memory.

    Example: 

    Copying es40fw.txt from dva0. . .

Copying FC2382A1 from dva0. . .
Copying FC8100X2 from dva0. . .
Copying KG8382A1 from dva0. . .
Copying KG7320X7 from dva0. . .

Please insert next floppy containing the options firmware, 
Hit [return] when ready. Or type DONE to abort.

    

    Insert Option diskette 2 then Press the Enter Key
