To monitor a platform in the hardware view of the AMU, you must ensure that the platform is assigned a template. The template tells the AMU which graphic to use when it displays the physical layout of the platform. You can assign a template to a platform in the Server Platform Manager (SPM).
In the main SPM window, select a platform and open the Modify Platform dialog box from the Actions menu. Choose a template from the Layout Template drop-down menu that matches the number of processors the platform has.
AMU in the AMS Environment
To manage an ES47/ES80/GS1280 platform with AMU, you must first add the platform using SPM. The hardware display of AMU depends on the template you assign when you add the platform. AMS ships with standard manufacturing templates for all available models. If your exact cabinet configuration is not displayed, bring up the AMU Visual Editor from the SPM Configure menu and create a new template to match your configuration. After a new template is created and saved, it becomes available in SPM. Use Modify to reassign the template.
AMU Standalone
Platforms can be added and configured using the Visual Editor. Invoke the Visual Editor from the AMU File menu and select New Configuration from the Configurations context popup menu. A configuration includes a name, IP address, and template assignment. The Visual Editor's online help has instructions for creating a platform configuration.
