Connecting to the Platform's Management Port

You can establish a connection to the platform's management port (PMU server or primary MBM), a single board computer that monitors the hardware components of ES47/ES80/GS1280 platforms, directly from the AMU.  To connect to the PMU server (primary MBM), select the platform icon in the left tree view with the right mouse button and then select Open Telnet from the platform's Actions menu.

Note: Only one connection to the PMU can be open at a time. If a connection to the PMU is already established by another user, you will not be able to connect to the PMU.

You can clear the PMU from the SPM, but you should do this with caution and only as a last resort. Clearing the PMU closes the telnet connection to it and closes any applications that may be running by that user, which could result in the loss of unsaved data.

It is important to terminate the telnet session when you are finished since the port will not be accessible while the session is in progress.

For ES47/ES80/GS1280 platforms, you access the PMU through a network address translator (NAT) box. The NAT box provides the platform with a unique IP address for the AMS and the hard partitions configured on the platform with a single point of access to the AMS. It allows you to assign to the hard partitions one set of IP addresses for internal traffic and a second set for external traffic. While connected to the management port of the NAT box, you can configure the private LAN of the ES47/ES80/GS1280 platform.

The PMU prompt is MBM>. See the CLI Reference on the Server Management CD for further information.
