Partitions View

The partitions view displays when you select Partitions from the tree view. The partitions view is a logical view of the system drawers and the CPUs they contain. Colors and symbols are used to show the partitions, the subpartitions they contain, the type of CPUs, and the CPUs that are connected to IOs. Each rectangle represents a system drawer with the CPUs inside the drawer. Each CPU is represented by a rectangle in a unique color assigned to the CPU (its hard partition color). The logical X-Y coordinates of each CPU are highlighted as you navigate with the cursor.

CPUs can be assigned to hard and subpartitions only if they are selected in the partition (logical) view. A CPU is selected by clicking the left mouse button on a CPU square. To select multiple CPUs, select one and drag the mouse cursor to consecutive CPUs without releasing the button. Release the button when you have finished selecting.

Selecting an arrow scrolls the display’s axis and CPUs in a circular fashion simulating the toroidal mesh of an AlphaServer ES47/ES80/GS1280 system. Up and down represent the North to South axis. Left and right represent the West to East axis.

Check the legend display (pull down the View menu and select the Legend box) for a full description of the symbols.
