The AMU Visual Editor is a Java applet that is used for creating and modifying ES47/ES80/GS1280 hardware templates. These templates are used in the AlphaServer Management Utility (AMU) and Server Platform Manager (SPM) applications. The Visual Editor is also used for configuring platforms that are managed by AMU in standalone mode.
The Visual Editor can be opened from SPM, or from AMU in standalone mode:
In SPM, open the Configure menu and select AMU Visual Editor.
In AMU running in standalone mode, open the File menu and select Visual Editor.
The templates generated by the Visual Editor are used by AMU to produce graphical hardware displays of the managed platforms. The AlphaServer Management System and AMU ship with several standard templates, each representing the manufacturing layout of a supported configuration. With the Visual Editor, you can add new templates to accurately represent the platforms being managed.
Templates and configurations are saved in templates.xml and configuration.xml respectively. These files are located in the directory /usr/opt/ams/tomcat/webapps/spm/WEB-INF/data (AMS Tru64/Linux), /usr/opt/amu/tomcat/webapps/mpmu/WEB-INF/data (AMU Tru64/Linux), or C:\amu\tomcat\webapps\mpmu\WEB-INF\data (AMU Windows).
