4 About Event Viewer
4.1 Additional Trademark and Product Information
EVM is an event management system. Event Viewer is the portion of EVM that establishes a retrieving client to view events stored in log files. The Event Viewer provides capabilities to select and view events, to refresh the display with new or newly selected events, and optionally to print events or save them in a file. Events may be displayed, printed, or saved in event summary or event detail format. See the task list for all of the capabilities, and the reference section for detailed information on the dialog boxes and main windows.
Use Event Viewer to:
Customize the Event Summary Display
Print Events in Summary or Detail Format
Save Events in Summary or Detail Format
There are several ways to open the Event Viewer:
From the SysMan Menu, select Monitoring and Tuning, then select View Events.
From the CDE front panel if your system is running a graphics environment with CDE:
Open the Application Manager from the CDE front panel.
Select the System Administration group.
Select the Daily Administration group.
Select the Event Viewer icon.
To exit the Event Viewer:
In the Event Viewer main window, select Exit.
Prior to termination, all currently specified preferences will be remembered and used the next time the Event Viewer is started by the same user.
The Event Viewer does not provide
an
event monitoring
capability.
All events
that are displayed are read from log files.
You must refresh the display.
