EEvveenntt VViieewweerr HHeellpp

EEVVMM is an eevveenntt mmaannaaggeemmeenntt system. Event Viewer is the portion of EVM that
establishes a rreettrriieevviinngg cclliieenntt to view eevveennttss stored in log files. The
Event Viewer provides capabilities to select and view events, to refresh
the display with new or newly selected events, and optionally to print
events or save them in a file. Events may be displayed, printed, or saved
in eevveenntt ssuummmmaarryy or eevveenntt ddeettaaiill format. See the task list for all of the
capabilities, and the reference section for detailed information on the
  dialog boxes and main windows.

  Use Event Viewer to:

    oo++  Display Event Summaries

    oo++  Display Event Details

oo++ Customize the Event Summary Display

oo++ Print Events in Summary or Detail Format

oo++ Save Events in Summary or Detail Format

OOppeenniinngg EEvveenntt VViieewweerr

There are several ways to open the Event Viewer:

oo++ From the SSyyssMMaann MMeennuu, select MMoonniittoorriinngg aanndd TTuunniinngg, then select VViieeww
       EEvveennttss.

oo++ From the command line, enter sysman event_viewer.

oo++ From the CCDDEE ffrroonntt ppaanneell if your system is running a graphics environ-
       ment with CCDDEE:

11.. Open the AApppplliiccaattiioonn MMaannaaggeerr from the CDE front panel.

EExxiittiinngg EEvveenntt VViieewweerr

  To exit the Event Viewer:

oo++ In the Event Viewer main window, select EExxiitt..

oo++ Prior to termination, all currently specified preferences will be
remembered and used the next time the Event Viewer is started by the
       same user.

The Event Viewer does not provide an eevveenntt mmoonniittoorriinngg capability. All
events that are displayed are read from log files. You must refresh the
display. See the evmwatch(1) reference page for information on establish-
ing a lliisstteenniinngg cclliieenntt to monitor events in real time.

  eevveenntt nnaammee

The EVM event name is an ASCII character string, made up of a dot-
separated series of components, with the left-most component
representing the top of a notational hierarchy.	Component substrings
may include any combination of letters, digits, and underbar charac-
ters. There is no restriction on the number of components that can be
       included in an event name.

  eevveenntt pprriioorriittyy

The EVM event priority is an integer value in the range 0-700, with
zero being the least significant priority. The priority is assigned
by the posting client. EVM uses an event priority value solely for
filtering, sorting and presentation purposes. See also ppoossttiinngg cclliieenntt

  eevveenntt ssuummmmaarryy

A format that presents event data items in an abbreviated form.	A

A menu of system management tasks organized in a tree-like hierarchy
with branches of general functionality, and leaves for actual tasks.
Selecting a leaf invokes a task, which opens a dialog box for perform-
ing the task. Depending on the user's display device, the SysMan Menu
provides either a graphical or text-based interface. The SysMan Menu
is invoked from the command line by entering /usr/sbin/sysman or from
the CDE Application Manager if your system is running the CDE desktop.
