Overview

When you invoke APW, the Current Partition Map dialog box for the selected platform is displayed. A warning message alerts you if the console for the selected platform is in use.

Selecting Resources from the Current Partition Map brings up the Resources dialog box, which provides a graphical view of the resources assigned to each partition and displays information about them. For ES47, ES80, and GS1280 platforms, these resources are dual-processor modules (duos); for GS80, GS160, and GS320 platforms, they are quad-building blocks (QBBs).

You move from the Current Partition Map dialog box to the Work With Partition Maps dialog box, in which you chose whether to modify an existing map or create a new one. You can create multiple partition maps in order to meet differing needs in your computing environment.

From within the Create or Modify a Partition Map dialog box you can validate the configuration you have selected, save your partition map to a file, and apply the map to your system. Changes are applied to the platform when you press the commit button. You should make all your changes in APW before you commit the partition map. You can create multiple partitions, modify multiple partitions, and remove partitions, all without affecting the hardware or AMS configuration. Because of this, you can use APW to validate and save your changes in advance of any planned down time.
