Partition Map Creation Criteria

The Partition Map Creation Criteria dialog box appears when you choose Create new partition map in the Work with Partition Maps dialog box and click Next>. This box lets the APW create a map based on criteria you specify.

To enable a field in the Partition Map Creation Criteria dialog box, click in the field's check box. Only the first field's check box is enabled by default. If this field is unchecked, APW suggests partitioning the hardware on SBB boundaries; for larger hardware configurations, this may be desirable.

The following table explains the fields in the dialog box.

There must be [  ] hard partition(s).

Check the box and specify a number of hard partitions (if desired as a criteria).

Each partition must have [  ] CPU(s).

Check the box and specify how many CPUs hard partitions must have (if desired as a criterion).

Count slots as well as current CPUs.

Check to count duo filler modules and empty slots as well as CPUs.

This criterion makes sense only if you also specify the minimum number of CPUs per partition.

Each partition must have at least [  ] MB of memory

Enter the minimum memory criterion for each partition in MB.

If there are no partition maps that meet all the criteria, an error message displays when you click Next>. Try entering simpler criteria.
