The OpenVMS Galaxy operating system supports multiple soft partitions. If the operating system type running on a partition is OpenVMS Galaxy, the Soft Partitions button at the bottom of the Add or Modify a Hard Partition dialog box is activated. You can click on it to use the Soft Partitions and Memory Assignments dialog box to manage multiple soft partitions.
Shared memory is for the entire partition, and you can apply what you enter by pressing the Enter key or Apply.
Memory assigned to the selected partition is updated when you select a partition in the table. You can change the Assigned (MB) column by entering a value and pressing Enter or entering a value and pressing the Apply button. The Auto button resets the selected partition to Automatic.
The Mem (MB) column shows the amount of memory physically located on QBBs assigned to the soft partition. When the memory assignment is set to Automatic, APW divides the available memory in the hard partition among the soft partitions during the commit stage.
The progressive slider bar shows the amount of memory assigned out of the total amount of memory within the hard partition.
