The Server Platform Manager (SPM) can be accessed either remotely or locally. The AMS security policy is based on Tru64 UNIX account authentication using amsuser group accounts and SPM account authorization roles.
Remote Access
SPM is accessed remotely by connecting to a URL address using a Web browser and running the SPM as a Java applet. The URL for accessing SPM remotely is http://amsservername:8080/spm where amsservername is the fully qualified name of your AMS server:
http://AMS_hostname:8080/spm
Local Access
The SPM can also be accessed directly from the AlphaServer Management Station (AMS) by logging in using a valid OS account on an AMS computer and running SPM as a Java application to launch SPM locally. To launch SPM locally, type spm at the command prompt:
