Each console represents a name for a port on a platform or a partition that can be connected via cmfd. Consoles are logged and monitored for events on all platform management ports and all partition OS/SRM ports by default.
Each platform has one console. In an ES47/ES80/GS1280, the platform console is associated with the platform management port (MBM), which is always port 23. The MBM console is available as soon as the system is configured and discovered by SPM. Telnet to an MBM console gives access to the CLI commands for directly accessing and configuring the system. In a GS80/GS160/GS320 platform, this port is associated with the terminal server.
Any platform partition that can run an operating system has a console associated with it. Consoles to partitions do not become available in SPM unless they are configured first. To configure an ES47/ES80/GS1280 console, select Configure... from the subpartition Actions menu. To configure a GS80/GS160/GS320 console, select Configure... from the hard partition Actions menu.
