Use the Log File Viewer to view the current console log. The Console Management Facility daemon (cmfd) logs all the output into a file when console output logging is enabled. A new log file is created weekly by default. Optionally, you can specify the period for archiving the current log files and creating new ones. The Log File Viewer displays the most recent log. To view all the logs, check the directory /usr/opt/smc/logs on the AMS server for saved log files.
The Log File Viewer supports searching for a string pattern or a regular expression. To search, enter the pattern in the text field and select one of the buttons (Search or Search for RegExp).
Example: To search for "power on" enter the string and click the Search button. To search for "power on" and "power off" enter the regular expression "power on | power off" and click the Search for RegExp button. When a match is found it is highlighted in green. Click the button again to find the next occurrence.
All or any portion of text that appears in the Console Log Viewer may be copied to your clipboard and pasted to other applications such as an editor's window, a Word file, or a mail message. Use the Select All button to select the entire log (or highlight and select a piece of text as shown below), click the Copy to Clipboard button, and then paste it from the clipboard into any application you wish.
