=============================================================================
                           INSTALLATION NOTES
=============================================================================

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. SE7520AF20 BIOS is not compatible with Windows 98 or Windows XP bootable
   diskettes.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS:

    This instructions do not apply when running the update directly from
    the Software Update Package Menu. In that event, instructions displayed
    in the screen should be followed. The instructions below only applies
    when creating a BIOS update disk.

1. Create a bootable media.
2. Boot the SE7520AF20 server board with media created in step #1.
3. The media should have all batch files required to update the BIOS.
4. At the DOS prompt type run the run.bat file or type:
   afudos.exe /i[filename].rom /pb /c2 and press <Enter>, where [filename]
   is the name of the BIOS ROM image.
   The update will show seven progress status as follows:

	Reading file .......... done
	Erasing flash ......... done
	Writing flash ......... done
	Verifying flash ....... done
	Erasing BootBlock ..... done
	Writing BootBlock ..... done
	Verifying BootBlock ... done

   After the Verifying status has reached 100 % (typically under 3 minutes),
   proceed to step #5.
5. Reboot system. During POST, enter BIOS Setup if you want to change any options.

=============================================================================
                        BIOS RECOVERY INSTRUCTIONS
=============================================================================

1. Build Recovery media by preparing a formatted storage such as USB flash
   disk-on-key.
2. Rename ALIEFxxx.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM and copy AMIBOOT.ROM to USB key.
3. Set Recovery Boot Jumper J1D1 (10-11).
4. Insert the Recovery DOS bootable media.
5. Power on system; during recovery update no video will be displayed.
6. Once flash udpate is complete, power off system and set jumper back to
   Normal mode J1D1 (9-10).

NOTES:

a. If system ROM is damaged (e.g. BAD checksum ), the system will perform
   BIOS recovery automatically.
b. Jumper J2J3 (BIOS bank selection override) should set to pins 1-2 to select
   the correct BIOS flash bank.
c. The recovery only supports the storages of both type 12 & FAT16.
d. DiskOnKey should have a FAT12 partition and be formatted in DOS. One method
   is to boot with floppy and do the following at the DOS prompt:
   A> format b: /s .  (DiskOnKey being device b: in this example).

                            KNOWN ISSUES/WORKAROUNDS
=============================================================================

Build P.09.00.0106
- This release doesn't have microcode update for Paxville processor
  and Nocona G1 stepping processor. It will be available with P.09.20.0107.

Build P.09.00.0105
- This release doesn't have microcode update for Paxville processor.
  It will be available with P.09.10.0106.

Build RC01-102/RC02-103
- OS can't be installed on ROMB drive. This issue resulted from PXH IOxAPIC
  hiding. RC03-104 fixed it.

Build RC01-093
- When iButton and memory are installed to enable ROMB, system will lock up.
  This issue is fixed with RC02-094.
- Before and after memory initialization, BIOS send Sync SMBus command to IMM.
  This command often fails and causes BIOS to retry. This retry takes usually
  10 ~ 15 seconds, so users may experience longer POST than before.
  (Up to about 60 seconds for video screen coming up)

Build RC01-090
- In BIOS Setup->Processor Summary, CPU TM function & HW Prefetcher can't be
  set properly. It is fixed by RC02-091.

Build P05-089
- None

Build RC02-088/RC01-087
- Memory mirror option in BIOS Setup is available in RC01-087 BIOS.
  So RC01-087 is recalled and should not be used. RC02-088 disables and
  hides memory mirror option.

Build P04-086
- None

Build P03-085
- In Slot 1, PCI 66MHz adapters cannot be hot plugged well.

Build P01-081
- PCI-X hot plug sometimes does not work. OS panic occurs under specific
  conditions.

=============================================================================
                              FEATURES REMOVED

- None

Build P05-089/RC02-088
- None

Build RC01-087
- Processor microcode update patches for A0/B0/B1/C1 steppings were removed.
  So if these old processors are used, there will be POST errors.

Build P04-086
- None

Build P03-085
- 4GBPlus eModule was deactivated to get more BIOS memory, IMT eModule
  can provide the same functions.
- System Configuration Display support module was deactivated.
- Removed extra bus allocation in hot plug resource padding because of system
  slowness issues during POST when PCI-Express slot is occupied.

Build P01-081
- Extra PCI bus number allocation for PCI-Express hot plug slot is removed.
  When there is a PCI-Express card in slot, if extra bus number is allocated,
  blue screen occurs during Windows booting.
