RELEASE NOTES FOR Tiger2 BMC RELEASE 0.28 - HPC - Feature Complete release
December 2 2004

- This release contains a fix for a Madison 6M processor errata which sometimes causes the
processor to come up in IO loop-back mode. This fix checks the SNC early for signs that
the processor is in this state, and if so, does an early, pre-emptive reset.
- This BMC is required for supporting Madison9M processors, and that
this BMC is also backward compatible with previous versions of processors.i.e
BMC is compatible with BIOS using SNC address 18h or 00h (Madison9M).
- SDR15 should be used with this BMC version.

- This T2BMC28 is the Feature Complete HPC Release.

- Use 'FWUpdate' utility to flash BMC28 operational code into the BMC flash if current BMC
  version is 15.
- This version of BMC has been released with a working old BootCode version 15.
- All the user settings from current BMC will be restored when moved to new BMC28.
- Down revising the BMC may result in all settings being returned to factory defaults.
- Updating to this version from BMC 0.08 or lower requires Boot Block update.
Use jumper J3A3 on the MB and switch FROM default 1-2 (Boot protected) TO
  2-3 (Boot programmable)

"33740","Non critical & critical Processor temperature thresholds too high","Sev2" (This is in SDR12)
"33691","BMC - Fan speed is wrong if Tiger2 comes up with a single PS cord","Sev2"
"33799","BMC: Default PEF Startup Delay too short","Sev3"
"33638","LAN - Incurred 1 failure(s) after restarting the watchdog.","Sev3"

"33628","CPU: Fault conditions not being indicated","Sev3"
Note: This tracker is also included in BMc14 with more CPU failure conditions enabled.

DEPENDENCIES

* PLD 2 needs to be updated with latest version using PLD update utility.
This is needed for BMC Snoop function to work, Otherwise old PLD code still works with BMC12 or later.

KNOWN ISSUES

* The Hurdle Test was Run on this version and no critical issues were found.

* The default PEF startup delay has been modified in BMC v0.14. This change increases the default PEF
startup delay from 60 seconds to 255 seconds to allow more time to get to SMU to disable PEF if necessary.
The implication of this PEF change is that the users will loose their PEF filters settings, as it gets
  overwritten by the default values.

KNOWN ISSUES

* The BMC Snoop function (talking to BMC with special escape sequence while the mux
is on the system side) is believed to be a cause for Sev1 Terminal Mode bug. So FWEval
  needs to verify the resolution.

* The Hurdle Test was Run on this version and no critical issues were found.
