ServerConductor consists of the machines shown in the following figure:

- Management console
- This is the machine that is used to manage the status of servers. By logging on to the manager from the management console, you can monitor the status of the servers being handled by the manager.
- You can use a machine with one of the following OSs as the management console:
- Windows XP (Professional)
- Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition)
- Web management console
- This is the machine that manages server status from a Web browser. By connecting to the manager from a Web browser via a Web server, you can monitor the status of managed servers.
- You must set the Web server on the same machine as the manager.
- You can use the following Web browser as a Web management console:
- Internet Explore 6.0 SP1 or later
- Manager
- This is the machine that is used to integrate the management of the entire ServerConductor. It monitors the status of, and collects information from, the managed servers and makes this information viewable from the management console or the Web management console. To view the information from the Web management console, the manager and the Web server must be set on the same machine.
- At least one manager is required in a ServerConductor management configuration.
- You can use a machine with one of the following OSs as the manager:
- Windows XP (Professional)
- Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition)
- Managed server
- This is a server machine that is managed by the manager.
- You can use a machine with one of the following OSs as a managed server:
- Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (IPF)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4
- Windows server refers to a managed Windows Server 2003 server. Linux server refers to a managed Linux server.
