Install each service provided by BSM and Agent. A user with Administrators permissions must perform installation.
- Notes
- When you install a new agent service, you must specify the model. Therefore, you must determine the server's model before you install a new agent service.
- Make sure that you install the programs on the local hard disk drive.
- If you move the installer's window during installation, the dialog box might fall outside the window, thereby disabling operation. For this reason, you must never move the installer's window while installation is underway.
- The required disk space displayed by the installer is the value required for installation. When each service starts, more disk space will be needed.
- If you install the Web console service, you must install the prerequisite software products, Web server (Tomcat 4.1) and JDK 1.4.2, in advance.
To install ServerConductor programs:
- Insert the CD-ROM containing the ServerConductor programs.
- Execute setup.exe on the CD-ROM.
Perform installation by following the instructions displayed in the dialog boxes.
- Select the service to be installed.
If you install the Web console service, either install the manager service at the same time or install the Web console service in an environment where the manager service has already been installed.
- Set the environment.
At the conclusion of installation, the environment settings utility starts automatically. To perform setup, see the sections beginning with section 3.3.
- Restart the machine.
When each service has been set by the environment settings utility, a message is displayed asking whether the machine is to be restarted. When you have completed setting the environment, choose Yes to apply the settings, and then restart the computer.
- Note
- If you have installed the Web console service, set the following directory as the Tomcat application installation directory:
<BSM-installation-destination>\WebConsole
Install each service provided by Agent on the Linux server. Use the RPM package and installation shell script. A superuser (root) must perform this procedure.
To install ServerConductor programs:
- Insert the CD-ROM containing the ServerConductor programs.
- Mount the CD-ROM.
To mount the CD-ROM on mnt/cdrom, enter the following command:
mount -o exec /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
- Start install.sh.
If the CD-ROM is mounted on mnt/cdrom, enter the following command:
/mnt/cdrom/install.sh /mnt/cdrom/
A message appears asking whether to start installation.
- Press the Y key.
Installation begins.
- Set up an environment for the agent.
To set up an environment for the agent, enter the following command:
/usr/sbin/smhedit
- Set up an environment for the SNMP trap service.
To set up an environment for the SNMP trap service, enter the following command:
/usr/sbin/smhaaedit
- Start the agent service.
To start the agent service, enter the following command:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/hsysmgr start
Once you have installed the agent service, starting the Linux server at run level 3 or higher automatically starts the agent service. For details about the agent service settings, see 3.6 Setting the agent service (Linux server).
