6.4 Starting a program automatically when an alert is received

This section describes how to start a desired program when an alert is sent from a host. This method enables you to sound a tone or display a user-defined message when an alert is sent.

To use this function:

  1. Install the alert action service in the environment in which a program is to be started automatically when alerts occur.
  2. Set the manager service. For details, see 6.4.1 Setting the alert action service at the connection destination.
  3. Set the alert action service. For details, see 6.4.2 Setting the program to be started automatically.

Note
Some alerts are not sent to the alert action service. For a list of such alerts, see 6.4.3 Alerts that are not sent to the alert action service.
