12.1 Starting programs

You can register an external program and start it from the console service.

This section describes how to start external programs from the console service.

(1) Registering external programs

To start an external program from the console service, you must register the program in advance. To register external programs, you must log on as an administrator. The sub-administrator can execute registered external programs, but cannot register them.

To register an external program, in the Host Management window, from the External Program menu, choose External Program. The Start External Program dialog box appears:

To register external programs:

  1. In the File name text box, enter the file name of the external program to be started (absolute path name).
    Alternatively, click the Browse button and select the file name of the external program to be started.
  2. In the Program name text box, enter the program name for the specified file.
  3. Click the Add to List button.
    The added program name and file name are displayed in the list of external programs.

If you wish to register multiple external programs, repeat this procedure.

To delete a registered external program, select the program, and then click the Delete button.

(2) Starting external programs

This subsection describes how to start the program registered in 12.1(1) Registering external programs. For starting external programs, there are no restrictions on the user permissions.

To start an external program:

  1. In the Host Management window, from the External Program menu, choose External Program.
    The Start External Program dialog box appears.
  2. From the list of external programs, select the name of the program that you wish to start.
  3. Click the Start button.

The selected external program is started.
