ServerConductor can detect failures (alerts) that occur at managed hosts and report the alerts to the system administrator. This section describes the notification methods supported by the Web management console.

The following figure provides an overview of failure management using the Web management console:

The Web management console supports the following failure management:

• Displaying error information
  The Web management console displays the alert (notification alert) information reported to the Web console service. It also displays alert log information recorded at the managed hosts.
  
• Recording alerts in the event log
  For a Windows server, alerts can be recorded in the system's event log.
  
• Setting a server operation that takes place when alerts occur
  You can automate the operation at a managed server's system operation when alerts occur (such as powering off and rebooting).
  
• Filtering alert notification
  You can filter alerts by alert level and type (for notification or for suppression of notification). This enables you to achieve desired failure management, such as reporting only serious alerts to the system administrator.
