15.4.1 Displaying error information (notification alerts)

This subsection describes how to manage notification alerts that are sent from managed hosts.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Displaying notification alerts
(2) Setting notification alerts to checked status
(3) Deleting checked notification alerts
(4) Setting the alerts to be reported

(1) Displaying notification alerts

To view notification alerts:

  1. From the Alert management menu, choose Notification alerts View.
    The Notification alert window appears.

Note
A maximum of 1,000 notification alerts can be read at one time. When there are more than 1,000 notification alerts, you can display the remaining notification alerts after deleting unneeded notification alerts and then choosing Notification Alerts View again.

The Notification alert window displays the following information:

(2) Setting notification alerts to checked status

The Notification alert window displays the reported alerts. At times, it might be difficult to identify the alerts requiring action because there are many alerts or the alerts that have been dealt with cannot be separated from those that have not. However, it is necessary to be able to make this distinction.

To differentiate unchecked alerts from checked alerts:

  1. In the Notification alert window, select the check box for an alert whose status is to be set to Confirmed.
You can select multiple alerts. Clicking the Select All button selects the check boxes for all alerts.
  2. Click the Confirm button.
The check status of the selected alerts becomes Confirmed.

(3) Deleting checked notification alerts

You can delete alerts displayed in the Notification alert window. Note that you can delete only alerts whose check status is Confirmed.

To delete alerts:

  1. In the Notification alert window, select the check box for an alert that you want to delete.
You can select multiple alerts. Clicking the Select All button selects the check boxes for all alerts.
  2. Click the Delete button.
    The selected alerts are deleted.

(4) Setting the alerts to be reported

If all alerts that occur at servers are reported to the management console, handling of important alerts might be delayed. The console service enables you to set server operation to handle alerts in advance and to filter notification alerts so that only important alerts are reported. For details about these settings, see 15.4.4 Setting server operation in the event of an alert or 15.4.5 Filtering alert notification.
