15.4.2 Displaying error information (alert log)

You can view and delete log information for all alerts that occur at the servers.

(1) Viewing alert log

To view alert log:

  1. In the Host management window, in the detail area, select the check box for the host whose alert log is to be viewed.
  2. From the Host management menu, choose Alert log and then View.
    The Alert log window appears.
  3. Set a search condition for filtering the alert log information that you want to view.
    You should note the following about setting a search condition:
    • For Contents, specify the condition as a maximum of 150 characters.
    • For Alert ID, set a string of 6 characters including 0x at the beginning or a string of 4 characters without the 0x.
  4. Click the Search button.
    The detail area displays the alert log. Clicking a column title sorts the notification alerts in ascending order of that column's entries. This sorting is executed only on the pages being displayed. Each time the same column title is clicked, the sorted order toggles between ascending and descending.

The Alert log window displays the following information:

Displayed item Description
Occurrence date and time Indicates the date and time an alert occurred.
Occurrence host Displays the name of the host where the alert occurred. Clicking the host name opens the Inventory window that displays inventory information for the clicked host.
Alert level Displays the level of the alert that occurred.
Contents Displays a description of the alert.
Alert ID Displays the alert ID.
Occurrence location Displays the location (such as an agent) where the alert occurred.

(2) Deleting alert logs

To delete alert logs:

  1. In the Host management window, in the detail area, select the check box for the host whose alert log is to be deleted.
  2. From the Host management menu, choose Alert log and then Delete.
    The Alert log Deletion window appears.
  3. Select the check box for the name of the alert log file that you want to delete.
    To delete all logs, click the Select All button.
  4. Click the Delete button.
    The selected alert logs are deleted.
