15.4.5 Filtering alert notification

You can filter alerts that occur at hosts in order to send to the Web management console only those alerts that are necessary instead of sending all alerts.

The following two filtering methods are available:

Organization of this subsection
(1) Filtering by alert level
(2) Filtering in units of alerts

(1) Filtering by alert level

You can classify the alerts that occur at a server by alert level and send only the alerts of a specific alert level to the Web management console. The following are the specifiable alert levels:

To filter alerts:

  1. In the Host management window, in the detail area, select the check box for the server for which a notification alert level setting is to be specified.
You can select only one server. Multiple servers cannot be selected.
  2. From the Settings menu, choose Agent service settings.
The Agent service settings window appears.
  3. Click Alert setting.
  4. In Alert level, select the alert levels to be reported.
  5. Click the Apply button.
Filtering of alerts is set for the selected server. All alerts of the specified levels will be reported once the Apply button is clicked.

(2) Filtering in units of alerts

You can set specific alerts that are to be sent to the console service.

To filter alerts:

  1. In the Host management window, in the detail area, select the check box for the server for which a notification alert setting is to be specified.
You can select only one server. Multiple servers cannot be selected.
  2. From the Settings menu, choose Agent service settings.
The Agent service settings window appears.
  3. Click the Alert attribute setting menu.
  4. From the list of alerts, select the alert that is to be reported.
The list of alerts includes only alerts that can be reported by the selected server.
  5. In Alert occurrence notification, set whether the alert is to be reported.
To report the selected alert, select Notify. To suppress reporting of the selected alert, select Do not notify. If the alert is to be reported, also set the number of times the alert must occur before it is reported.
    Note
An alert for which Do not notify is set is ignored by all alert-related functions. Such an alert will not be recorded in log files (such as alert log and event log). For details about the failure management functions that are affected by this setting, see 6.8.2 Result of filtered alert notification.
  6. Click the Apply button.
Filtering is set for the selected server. Occurrences of the selected alert will be reported once the Apply button is clicked.
