Managing Controllers : Updating the Controller Firmware

Updating the Controller Firmware

The LSI Storage Authority software enables you to update the controller firmware.

NOTE  LSA does not support downgrading of firmware from one phase to another phase on IT/IR controllers. However, LSA supports downgrading of firmware within the same phase.

For more information, see the LSA Readme that has been provided along with your package.

NOTE  On VMware ESXi 5.5, VMware ESXi 6.0, and VMware ESXi 6.5 platforms, you cannot update the firmware for IT/IR controllers through LSI Storage Authority due to a limitation with VMware.

To work around this issue:

1.

Edit /etc/sfcb/sfcb.cfg

2.

Add httpMaxContentLength: 4194304

3.

Restart the LSA service /etc/init.d/sfcbd-watchdog restart

4.

Now flash the firmware.

Also refer to the LSA Readme that has been provided along with the package for a more detailed information.

Perform the following steps to update the controller firmware.

1.

Navigate to the Controller dashboard.

2.

Click Update Firmware.

The Update Firmware window appears. It displays the current controller firmware, current BIOS, and current EFI-BSD versions.

4.

Select the required option from the displayed list and click Browse to locate and open the:

*

.rom file to update on MR controllers.

*

.bin file to update on IR3/IT controllers.

5.

Click Update.

After the update is complete, a message is displayed that confirms the success of the update and displays the new version, for the option (Firmware, BIOS, or EFI-BSD) that you had selected to update.
