the Server Management (SM) Firmware (FW) for Itanium(TM) Systems.

RELEASE NOTES FOR FWUPDATE UTILITY VERSION 2.0 BUILD 6

A. CHANGES SINCE PREVIOUS VERSION

Fixed the issue with accessing files from block devices.

B. DEPENDENCIES

   1. Executes under the EFI Shell ver 0.99 or greater.
   2. Help file "fwupdate.hlp" must be located in same directory as the
      program.
   3. On SR870BN4 platforms, to update the boot code a jumper must be set.

C. SUPPORTED PLATFORMS

   1. SR870BN4
   2. SR870BH2

D. HOW TO USE THIS UTILITY

   1. Boot to EFI shell.
   2. Copy FWUpdate.EFI, FWUpdate.HLP, IPMI.EFI and input HEX file to HD or
      removable media.

   3. Command line Interface

                fwupdate [HEX File Name] [Options]

      a. To view the command-line help

                fwupdate /h

      b. To update boot block as well as operational block of the firmware
         from the command line interface:

fwupdate [HEX File Name] /upload /bootena

      c. To update the operational block only from the command line interface:

                fwupdate [HEX File Name] /upload

Note: Check the FW release notes for the FW release that you are
updating. It may require updating both boot code and
               operational code.

Note: If the PIA is present in the hex file, and the platform
supports the PIA, then the PIA will be updated when the
operational code is updated. Normally it is neither required
nor recommended to update the PIA independently of the
operational code, however, the PIA may be updated
separately by specifying the following command line syntax:

               fwupdate [HEX File Name] /uploadpia

   4. GUI Interface

                fwupdate

           or fwupdate [HEX File Name]

Use the arrow keys to browse through the menu and press the <Enter>
key to select. A brief description of the selected menu item is
displayed in the tip-view window. The tip-view window is displayed
at the bottom of the screen.

      a. To upload firmware from the GUI interface, select "Update Flash",
then select an option from its sub-menu to update the operational
code, or both the boot code and operational code.

      b. To verify flash from the GUI interface, select "Verify Flash".

E. KNOWN ISSUES

   1. When a controller that is expected to be present on a given system is
not present, the utility times out after a minute or more when using
the "Display Version" feature of the utility.
   2. On SR870BH2 systems, the Flash part is displayed as *UNKNOWN*.
