---- MANUAL CHANGES OR ADDITIONS ----

SETTING ALTITUDES IN THE WINDS/PROFILE WINDOW
This is a two step process. First, select the legs needing
an altitude adjustment, second, set the altitude.

Mouse: Point at the beginning leg, hold down the left
button and drag the pointer to the right. Release the
left mouse button when the last leg has been highlighted.
Set the altitude with the altitude lever.

Keyboard: use the Select command and the cursor keys to
identify the first leg. While holding the Shift key, use
the cursor keys to highlight all legs on which you wish to
adjust the altitude. Set the altitude by entering the
  altitude under the altitude lever.

RUBBERBAND ROUTE EDITING
Version 2.0 allows you to change the route by stretching it to
any other waypoints on the chart. You may insert or move to
different waypoints easily without having to use the Edit route
window. This is done by pointing at the route and holding down
the left mouse button as the route line is stretched to a new
waypoint. You may also move from a waypoint to another waypoint
by pointing at the route line while holding down the left mouse
button and moving it to a new waypoint.

USER WAYPOINTS (Alt left mouse click)
You can now create user waypoints on the fly by just
pointing at the area of the chart and holding down the Alt
key. FliteStar will compute the coordinates, assigning a
default waypoint name (which can be changed) and place a
user waypoint at the chart location.

DISTANCE AND RADIAL (Ctrl left mouse click)
To find the distance and radial from any point on the chart to
another point on the chart, point at the reference waypoint or
point of the chart and press the Ctrl button while holding down
the left mouse button. You may then move the mouse pointer. The
distance and radial will be shown by the mouse pointer.

AIRWAY ROUTING
FliteStar will now compute the airway and MEAs between VORs for
any route created either manually or automatically. The airway
and MEA will be shown on the Edit route window and the flight
log. The Airway button searches airways for you. If more than
one airway is common between any two VORs, FliteStar will
pop-up a window with the airways along with distance and MEAs
for each. You simply need to select which airway you want to
  use in your route.

FINDING AIRWAYS
FliteStar will find common airways between any VOR and/or
Intersection. For example, the Battleground VOR (BTG) near
Portland Oregon and the Sacramento VOR (SAC) near Sacramento
have Victor 23 in common. By just entering BTG as the
departure, and SAC as the destination, FliteStar will find
all the intermediate waypoints on Victor 23. This is done by
pressing the Airway button on the Edit route window.

DISPLAY SETUPS
FliteStar attempts to find your type of display (CGA, EGA or
VGA) on startup. However, some graphic cards are not
compatible with this function. In these instances you can
use the Setup menu as described in the manual. If this is not
possible you can force FliteStar to start in a particular
display mode. Here is how (capitalize as shown):

For CGA start FliteStar with FSTAR -C
For EGA start FliteStar with FSTAR -E
For VGA start FliteStar with FSTAR -V

INTERNAL MOUSE DRIVER
FliteStar uses your mouse driver if one is available and
compatible. However, some mouse drivers are not compatible.
For this reason FliteStar has a built-in mouse driver.

AUTOMATIC MOUSE DRIVER START UP
If no compatible mouse driver is found, FliteStar assumes
you have a Microsoft serial compatible mouse connected on
COM 1 and starts the program.

MANUAL MOUSE DRIVER START UP
If no compatible mouse drive is found, you may install
FliteStar's mouse driver manually. Here is how:

For CGA start FliteStar with FSTAR -C -1
For EGA start FliteStar with FSTAR -E -1
For VGA start FliteStar with FSTAR -V -1

FliteStar will start up and will present a mouse driver
dialogue screen. Select your type of mouse and either COM 1
or COM 2. FliteStar will then operate normally.

CONTEL DUAT ACCESS SOFTWARE
FliteStar is shipped with Contel DUAT software in a separate
package (included). To use the Contel DUAT software, follow the
installation instructions provided by Contel. If you want the
Contel DUAT function to work directly from FliteStar, you must
first install the Contel DUAT software in the FliteStar
  directory.

 DOWNLOADING DUAT WINDS FILE
Contel creates wind files with the extension ASC. To show these
files on FliteStar's winds file dialog window, just type *.ASC
in the file input field. You will then see all the files with
the extension ASC. Select the winds file for your route with
either the mouse or by typing in the entire file name.
FliteStar will then parse the winds file and automatically load
  it into your route.

UPDATING FLITESTAR
Beginning with updates to FliteStar version 2.0, all updates
will only contain the changes made to the software and Jeppesen
data. This will make your updating task much easier, since you
will have to work with fewer disks. We are planning to provide
an update service via an electronic bulletin board beginning
  in 1992.

Updates are available from MentorPlus Software directly. Call
toll free 1-800-628-4640, or FAX your order (503) 678-1480.
