   CM goes Freeware!

After careful deliberation, we have decided to make Cheat Machine for DOS
 a freeware program.

This will undoutably raise some question. Most are answered below.

 Q: Why?
A: The main cause is that we cannot spend much more time on it's
development as the other projects are eating away at our resources.
We sell products that are supported and maintained around the clock,
or we don't sell them at all. Period.

Q: What does this mean to me?
A: Everybody is now free to use CM as much as they like, without being
obligated to register or pay for it.

Q: I really love the program. How can I contribute?
A: That depends on the sort of contribution you want to make.
    - Monetary : send these to the old adress
    - Cheats : join the cheat-exchange mailing list and exchange them
with numerous other people. See below.
    - Other (coding, design, ...) : see below on this.

 Q: I'm a registered user. What do I do?
A: Thank you for your support. You will be able to use the current version
as you used the registered version before.

Q: Will there be new versions of Cheat Machine for DOS?
A: The current version is pretty stable. It will probably be the last
unless some serious bugs happen to pop up.

Q: What about new cheats and libraries?
A: New libraries will still be released, on the same (ir)regular basis
as before. We will also -try to- release a library-creation pack.

Q: It's freeware, so I can fiddle around with it as I like?
A: No! A Forest software still maintains all the rights to the software.
You have the right to use it, not to abuse it!

Q: Will the source code be available?
A: We are considering 2 options:
     - selling it
     - releasing it "Open Source" (a.k.a. GPL). But for that, we need
somebody to put in the effort of maintaining this project.
       Any Linux-ers out there maybe?
If any of these options interests you, contact us!

   Other new stuff

With the help of some good Linux programs, and the webspace provided
by those nice guys at dma.be, we've set up 2 (fully autmatic) mailing
list and a file sending robot.

The file robot automatically replies with the latest version of CM.
Send a message to CheatMachine@Writeme.com with subject SEND CM

The A Forest announcement list (to keep you informed):
Send a message to CheatMachine@Writeme.com with subject SUBSCRIBE
If you want to be kept up-to-date on future developments,
make sure you are on this list.

    The Cheat-exchange list :
Send a message to Cheat-Exchange@bigfoot.com with subject SUBSCRIBE
On this list, everybody can request and post cheats. Full
instructions will be mailed upon joining.

   The near future

 Upcoming projects:
  - The CHT library devlopement kit.
One of our independant programers is working on the compiler.
  - Cheat Machine for Windows (in development, early beta available)
This will have about the same functionality as the DOS version
(and use the same libraries) but with a Win95 interface and
    maybe some added goodies.

  Ŀ
   The far future

We are planning a program to replace CM (and all of the cheap clones
 that have popped up since).

To give you some ideas of features to expect:
  - Windows 95 based
  - Entirely 32 bit code
  - Industry grade database engine
  - Relational database structure
  - User can create/change items
  - Replication (updates in both ways) by floppy or by internet
  - Own scripting language
  - Lotsa more stuff!

  The project is codenamed BANGKOK.

It will be released as freeware.

   Can you help?

 We are looking for
  - Delphi 3 programmers
  - web designers/artists
who might lend a hand to this 'noble cause'. :)
