updated August 2020 TDC documentation archive This folder contains various metadata for games from the TDC. Cracks, cheats and trainers are located in a similar folder. When examining BBS dumps and scene releases, these are often embedded with the game. The goal of TDC is to not include extraneous files which were not part of the original release, so that extra data ends up here. Ideally, the file name of the zip would be identical to the game zip that it represents, with [genre] changed to [documentation] or whatever. Version #s, [a1], (Installer) etc dropped from the filename since these files are not that specific, with the exception of trainers and cracks; the version # if it exists, is left in since they may byte patch a game. Language information is often useful and sometimes required as different languages of a game expect different words to be typed in at the doc check. Documentation is usually in a few different formats: [Quick Docs] - Just a summary of what keys do what. [Documentation] - Typed up information from the manual, in whole or part. This is more than just a quick listing of the keys/controls. [Manual] - A scanned and/or pdf formatted copy of the physical manual. Manuals also have pieces, such as maps, warranty cards, quick references guides, etc. [Codes] - Typically the copy protection portion to bypass the security checks. [Level Codes] - These are kind of cheats, and should probably be relocated to the cheats folder. [Solve, Walkthrough] - step by step directions to win a game. We should settle on 1 name. These should also be relocated to cheats folder.
