To play Starflight you should give the DOS commands
     CD \STARFLT\PLAY
     STARFLT
When you have finished the session and issued the SAVE GAME command
within the Starflight program the current game state is stored in the PLAY
subdirectory. To save a desired "game state", you should copy the
files to the SAVE subdirectory. Do this by typing
     COPY \STARFLT\PLAY\*.COM \STARFLT\SAVE
To resume this game, type "STARFLT" from within the PLAY subdirectory.
If you don't like the outcome of the last session (your crew died) restore the
PLAY subdirectory from the SAVE directory instead by typing
     COPY \STARFLT\SAVE\*.COM \STARFLT\PLAY
During play the disk files do not contain a complete game state until a
SAVE GAME command is issued. This is why it is important to back-up the files
after a SAVE GAME. Without a backup set of files a power failure during play
would leave you without a resumable game state, and force you to begin a new
game, i.e. start over. The STARFLT\SAVE\ subdirectory allows you to save a
resumable game state. To restore from this game state copy the files to the
PLAY subdirectory and play the game there. NEVER play using the files in the
SAVE subdirectory as it would leave you without a backup.
PLAY in PLAY ... BACKUP in SAVE or to floppies if you prefer.
