^1NOTE: Although all other features are available, while in the Big Blue Disk
^1menu system you cannot use QuickRun to execute a program. You must copy
^1QuickRun onto another disk to take full advantage of all its features.

^1QuickRun^0 is a very small (12K) menu program that can be used equally
well on both floppy and hard disk systems. It allows you to quickly select
and execute any program or batch file contained on a disk.

^CGeneral Information

DOS only allows three types of executable files. You can easily identify
these files because of their unique extensions (the three characters in the
file name following the period.) The extensions for executable files are
"COM", "EXE", and "BAT". QuickRun looks for all files in a directory that
 carry these extensions.

You may select any combination of these types of files QuickRun locates.
The DOS "DIR" command conventions are used for this designation. As you may
remember, the "DIR" command allows you to specify a search MASK (a template
for identifying which type of file to find.) QuickRun uses "*.COM", "*.EXE",
and "*.BAT" as the search masks. The asterisk in front of the extension
simply tells the program that it doesn't matter what name the file has so
long as its extension matches the one specified.

^CQuickRun Menu Screen

When you run the program, the QuickRun Menu Screen is displayed. The top
line of this screen contains the disk Volume ID and Current Directory. The
bottom two lines display Function Key and Help Information. Located in the
center of the screen is the Program Selection box. This area contains a list
of the executable files that match the designated search masks. Along the
bottom line of the Program Selection box, the active search masks are
displayed. Use the <LEFT>, <RIGHT>, <UP>, and <DOWN> arrow keys to move the
highlight box to the file name of your choice and press <ENTER> to run that
 program.

QuickRun can handle a maximum of 96 files in any directory. The Program
Selection box will display no more than 48 file names at any one time. When
there are more files than can be displayed in the Program Selection box, the
word More will appear in either the upper left or right corners just below the
copyright notice. If the More is in the upper left corner, press <HOME> to
see a list of the additional files. Likewise, if the More is in the upper
 right corner, press <END>.

^CFunction Keys

At the bottom of the screen is a list of function key commands. This
 list includes:

 ^1F1 - Help

Displays a brief list and description of the active function keys.

 ^1F2 - Dir

Displays a directory tree structure on screen and allows you to
change subdirectories. Press the <UP> arrow, <DOWN> arrow, <HOME>,
<END>, <PGUP>, and <PGDN> keys to move the highlight box around the
structure. The <LEFT> and <RIGHT> arrow keys move the entire tree to
the left and right. <CTRL><LEFT> and <CTRL><RIGHT> stretch and shrink
the tree horizontally. Press <ENTER> to select the highlighted directory,
or <ESC> to return to the QuickRun Menu Screen without making a selection.

 ^1F3 - Colors

Allows you to select the screen colors used by the program. Use
the <UP> and <DOWN> arrow keys to move the pointer to the color you
wish to change. Use the <LEFT> and <RIGHT> arrow keys to change the
color selected. Press <S> to store these colors as default values for
the program, <F3> will restore the original colors to the program, and
<ESC> will take you back to the QuickRun Menu Screen.

 ^1F4 - Masks

Lets you select the search masks used to obtain the list of file names.
A [ X ] indicates which masks are active. Use the <UP> and <DOWN> arrow
keys to move the highlight box around the list. Press <ENTER> to activate
or deactivate the search mask. <ESC> will return you to the QuickRun Menu
    Screen.

 ^1F5 - Run Options

Allows you to designate whether or not a program is to be run with
command line parameters. Command line parameters are values used by some
programs to perform a function associated with that program. Press <F5>
to change from one state to the other. A message defining the current
status is displayed near the center of the last line on screen. When you
have selected a file to run with command line parameters, an area near
the bottom of the screen is used for input of the values. Once all values
have been specified, press <ENTER> to run the program. You may abort
this operation and return to the QuickRun Menu Screen by pressing <ESC>.

 ^1F6 - Exit Options

When you press <ESC> to exit QuickRun, the program can either
return to the directory the program started from or return to the current
directory. Press <F6> to change from one of these conditions to the other.
A message defining the current state is displayed on the lefthand side of
    the last line on screen.
