Diskovery is an apt title for these words as it's exactly what I've been
doing with my computer over the past few weeks. Discovering the world of IBM!
You see I am new to the IBM world. I just traded in my Apple IIGS (not that I
wanted to, the pinhead bean counters at Apple are practically forcing the II
out of existence) several weeks ago for a killer 386-33 mini tower and I love
it. I love the SVGA display and all the wonderful things it can show me. I
love the software simulations; how they can place me in the seat of today's
most sophisticated jets or even tomorrow's more sophisticated space fighters.
I love to learn new things and that's exactly what I am doing with my new
computer. If I am not sleeping, eating or driving to work I am at a computer
soaking up as much knowledge as I can. All for your benefit!

With each new thing I learn I get closer to knowing what you, the public I
serve, want for software. My guess is it's the same thing that I am looking
for. After all when you strip away the title and the paycheck I am just
another PC user like yourself. So what kind of programs do I pine for? What
sort of code makes me go coocoo? You name it! I like quality programs that
help me do something useful with my computer. Be it spending a few hours
beating up on a group of creatures to save a fantasy world from certain doom
to spending as little time as possible keeping my check book current. (Funny,
isn't that what's on this disk?)

The other item I look for is flash. If you have a VGA card in your system
you must be getting sick of the boring text/CGA offerings of the past. As a
user of these wonderful machines, I like to see software that pushes my
hardware to the limit. And that's just what we plan on doing.

Big Blue Disk is about to undergo some serious changes. We have been stuck
in the past for too long. The text/CGA only stance that we've maintained just
got tossed out the door. It's time Big Blue Disk grew up and stepped boldly
forth into the future. This is no reason for our mono/CGA friends to be
upset. We will still have a number of programs on each issue that WILL run on
their machines. We just won't dismiss a great EGA/VGA/SVGA program simply
because we fear a few people won't be able to use it. With the price of VGA
setups falling through the floor, it's my guess that more and more of you have
this hi-end capability; and, I find it insane not to support it.

The next few months will find our talented programming staff working on a
new, improved (softer than ever), EGA/VGA menu shell. We will maintain the
old washed up text version for those friends who don't have the hardware to
work with the software of tomorrow. But those who do will be pleasantly
surprised. I cannot give out any details right now, not that it is a
corporate secret, it's that we have not ironed out all the details.

You'll be seeing the fruits of my decisions in the near future and I'm sure
you'll agree with me. After all we are both looking for the same thing.

    See you in 30,
    J
