PREMIER MANAGER PC - TECHNICAL NOTES

There are several changes to the operation and appearance of the program,
which was developed after the manual was written. This file lists the most
important of these changes.

  INSTALLATION

Premier Manager PC will run from floppy, but due to the amount of statistical
and graphical data used, hard disk installation is highly recommended.

If you're going to play from floppy, you'll need to run INSTALL to set up
your choice of control and sound source. The default setup is for mouse and
PC speaker.

To install Premier Manager PC onto your hard disk, insert the original disk
into a floppy drive, log to that drive, and type INSTALL. You'll be offered a
list of options - follow the onscreen instructions and read the help messages.

  MEMORY REQUIREMENTS

The program requires approximately 501,250 bytes free as a minimum. In order
to get music, you'll need 581,200 bytes free. For Sound Blaster sampled
special effects, 608,200 bytes are needed. Use the DOS commands "mem" (if you
have DOS 5.00 or higher) or "chkdsk" to display the free memory on your
system.

  ENHANCEMENTS AND ADDITIONAL NOTES

Keyboard control: If you haven't got a mouse, select "Keyboard" when
installing. The cursor keys move the pointer, with SPACE and ENTER used for
the left and right mouse buttons respectively.

Ground Improvements: When scrolling through available sponsors or pitch board
positions, the right mouse button can be pressed to move to the next available
sponsor or board. To make a ground improvement, first click on the line
describing that feature (eg supporters club) and then click on the box at the
top right of the screen which details the cost.

Transfer Market: If your bid for another player is too low, or if that player
is from more than one division higher than you, your bid won't appear on the
list of bidders. This is because the selling club wouldn't consider accepting
your bid. In addition, you won't be able to bid at all if there are no spaces
on your squad.

Squad Details: The last game stats screen doesn't feature the red and yellow
cards at the top telling you how many cards your players were awarded.
Instead, your players are highlighted in red or yellow to indicate any cards
they may have received.

Loading And Saving:There is no format disk icon. You must have a formatted
floppy (or a hard disk) with 170,000 bytes free to save the game. To save the
game, click on the "SAVE GAME" icon and enter a filename (8 letters, with no
punctuation). To change the name of the saved game, click on "SAVE AS..." and
enter a new filename. Use "CHANGE SAVE DRIVE" if you have twin floppy drives
and wish to run the game from one and use the other for saves. The "GET INFO"
icons reports the name of and space on the currently selected save drive, the
current save name, and the number of managers (1-4) playing the current game.
Clicking on "LOAD GAME" puts up a list of the saved games found on the current
drive. Click on a name to load that game, or click with the right button to
cancel.

Finances: The yearly statement includes all transactions in the year to date,
except those which are detailed on the daily statement.

Telephone: The name of the currently selected manager is printed on the
telephone, to clarify multi-player telephone sessions.

End of season: The two letters are now labelled "Accept" and "Next..." -
hopefully the meaning of them is now fairly straightforward.
