                       INTRODUCTION

    The characters of the SADKO game are Russian epic hero Sadko
and his friends travelling altogether  across  the  Nordic  seas
seeking for fairy-tale Phoenix bird. Their ship is  attacked  by
the ferocious sea monster. So the trip is suddenly  interrupted.
All Sadko's friends are imprisoned by Varangian Prince -the Lord
of Seaside Castle. But Sadko escapes and  tries  to  rescue  his
friends.

    You are playing a  role  of  the  mysterious  Supreme  Force
using your magic power to help Sadko. Your aim is to lead  Sadko
and his friends to escape from  prison.  They  have  to  try  to
capture Varangian ship in order to continue their  trip  seeking
for new adventures.

    All characters during the game are  governed  by  determined
invariable rules. So it is impossible for you  to  provide  them
with your courage, force and dexterity to win the victory in any
particular single combat.

    You can play the most hard and  honourable  part  being  the
strategic force able of transforming the battlefield.  You  have
a magic torch to flame the magic bonfires here  and  there.  You
can also extinguish these bonfires.  So  you  may  blockade  and
allow   characters   moving   across   the  defined  battlefield
partitions. By means of that you have to reach more advantageous
position for Sadko and his friends.  Try for example to create a
numerical superiority within a particular battlefield partition.
You may surround your rival or cut off a part of rival  soldiers
by blockading them with bonfires. So you may reach  a  strategic
advantage at any battlefield point. Use you magic force to  help
Sadko and his friends.

of torch-like cursor. Placing  the  cursor  with  your  mouse or
cursor control keys to one of the grey plates forming the  floor
of the castle rooms or road across its  surroundings  press  any

              Scene 1. ENTERING THE CASTLE

    Sadko is in front of the gate of the  Seaside  Castle  where
his friends are having been imprisoned by Varangian Prince.  The
gate is guarded by a vigilant Varangian guardsman. His order  is
to kill anyone trying to reach the Castle. At this moment  Sadko
is armless because his armour and his  sword  having  been  lost
during the sea accident. Despite his valour and  strength  Sadko
has no possibility to defeat  his  rival.  So  his  task  is  to
penetrate trough the gate without striking a  blow.  He  can  do
this being protected with the flame of magic bonfires kindled by
you.  Should  your  strategic  decisions   be   correct,   Sadko
successfully goes to the next scene  ARMS  CAPTURE.  Follow  him
with your Magic Power!

              Scene 2. ARMS CAPTURE

Sadko is in the Armoury of the Seaside Castle.  At  the  distant
wall of the Armoury there are hanging battle armour  and  sword.
There are two soldiers in the Armoury.  The  door  to  the  next
level is guarded by a guardsman. You have two tasks playing this
scene. First, you have to lead Sadko to reach the  arms  without
facing the enemies. Then Sadko has  to  prove  his  strength  in
fighting. He has to conquer the Varangians one by  one.  Try  to
decide both tasks and you will follow Sadko to the next scene.

              Scene 3. RELEASE

    Playing this scene  you  have  to  release  one  of  Sadko's
friends captured by Varangian Prince. The prisoner is behind the
iron bars at one of the room walls. To  release  the  imprisoned
friend Sadko has to break the bars by a  triple  strike  to  it.
There are several doors to other castle  rooms  guarded  by  the
Varangian guardsmen. There are  also  several  soldiers  in  the
room. Your aim is to lead Sadko to the bars. Then  you  have  to
give him a time to triple strike the bars without being attacked
by the enemy soldier. After the bars  are  broken  the  released
friend joins Sadko. At first the released  warrior  is  armless.
But he obtains his arms from the defeated enemy  soldier.  After
releasing the prisoner your  aim  is  to  lead  Sadko  with  his
friends to the next scene. They may enter it through one of  the
guarded doors in order to release all  Sadko's  friends  one  by
one.

              Scene 4. HALL

    Sadko and his friends have to pass the  hall  on  their  way
leading to the next castle rooms. The hall is guarded by several
Varangian soldiers. Use all your strategic  mastership  and  all
of arms available to win a victory!

              Scene 5. IN THE TREASURY

    The heroes enter the Seaside Castle Treasury. There  is  the
trunk full of gold and jewels. It is guarded by  four  guardsmen
and seven soldiers. Any of the heroes  reaching  the  trunk  can
capture it. You have to lead the hero who has taken the trunk to
the next scene safe. It is the only  case  you  would  get  your
points for capturing the trunk. Be careful!

              Scene 7. COMBAT

    Sadko and his friends enter feast hall. The Varangian Prince
- the Lord of the Seaside Castle - and six of  his  soldiers are
sitting around the feast table. The task is  to  fight  all  the
enemies winning a victory. Then Sadko and  his  friends  have  a
chance to restore their forces by eating  at  the  feast  table.
After this they are ready to continue their trip to freedom.

              Scene 8. IN A PANTRY

    Sadko enters a pantry. There are sausages,  hams  and  other
meals hanging around the pantry walls. Five  Varangian  soldiers
guard the meals. If Sadko or any of his friends reaches the wall
with the meals hanging on it, he restores his power  completely.
Try to get more power for the future fighting.

              Scene 9. AT THE PIER (FINAL SCENE)

    Sadko and his friends are at the pier where  Varangian  ship
is moored. The pier  and  the  ship  are  guarded  by  Varangian
soldiers. You task is to help Sadko and his friends  to  capture
the ship. You have to  conquer  the  guard  consisting  of  four
soldiers and two guardsmen. Win a victory for  your  heroes  and
the white sail would be set. So brave Sadko is ready to meet new
adventures!
