Mission #14:
May 24. Alert! A surprise air attack has already begun in the waters of
San Carlos Bay. Low-flying Mirage and Skyhawks have appeared to the north
and are concentrating on the HMS Canberra, the biggest troop ship in the
fleet. Quickly bring your weapons to bear, but show caution. Several
British helicopters have been caught off guard and are still in the
process of ferrying equipment and supplies. Select your targets carefully
and don't miss. You might down one of your own helicopters.

Background: Argentine air attacks continued, with 24 Mirage and Skyhawks
participating. The logistic landing ship, HMS Sir Galahad, was hit by a
bomb amidships, but the bomb failed to explode. Her sister ship, HMS Sir
Lancelot, was also hit. Since the start of the action in San Carlos Bay,
the British ships had been sunk or hit by bombs that failed to go off. The
British forces were extremely upset when British papers reported on the
Argentines' bombing failures, thus alerting the Argentines to the problem.
Had the bombs exploded properly, the landing force would have been greatly
weakened and vital equipment necessary for the landing force would have
been lost.
