Mission #18:
June 8. The beach head established in San Carlos Bay is still weak.
Several ships have been lost, and the land war has dragged on somewhat.
Provide an umbrella of air protection for the supply ships in the Bay
until more troops, supplies and equipment can be off-loaded.

Background: Once again, Argentine aircraft concentrated attacks on
British shipping in the shallow waters around the Falklands. At 1410
hours, the Sir Galahad and Sir Tristam were attacked and damaged by
Skyhawk and Mirage bombers. Later, the frigate HMS Plymouth was attacked
by five Mirage fighter/bombers. Four bombs struck the ship, but none
exploded. However, one set off a depth charge, which caused a small fire.

Mission #19:
June 12. Patrol the waters north of the Falklands and through the narrow
waters of San Carlos Bay. Unconfirmed intelligence reports suggest the
possibility of further Exocet attacks.

Background: The HMS Glamorgan was hit by a land-launched Exocet missile,
which exploded in the aft helicopter hangar. The Argentines did not
possess any land-launched versions of the Exocet, but had converted a
sea-launched version from one of their ships onto a flatbed trailer
mounting.
