Operation El Dorado Canyon: The Bombing Of Tripoli
Mission #4:
April 14. Set your course for rapid movement to the Libyan coast in
support of U.S. aircraft. You must avoid detection by known Soviet naval
vessels and spy planes in the area.

Background: April 14. Twenty-eight KC-10 and KC-135 tanker aircraft
"began launching from Royal Air Force bases at Mildenhall and Fairford in
England" at 1713 hours British time on April 14. In the 1700 hour, resting
in the waters off Sicily, the U.S. aircraft carriers Coral Sea and America
set their courses for rapid movement to the Libyan coast. They were
successful in avoiding detection by "Soviet naval vessels and Soviet spy
planes that had taken off from a base near Tripoli."
