The Bridgeton Tanker, Mine Incident:  24 July 1987
Mission #1:  
July 24. Escort two Kuwait-based tankers, the Bridgeton and Gas Prince, 
through the Strait of Hormuz. Beware of mines in the area.

Background:  Two Kuwait-based tankers, the Bridgeton and Gas Prince, were 
being escorted by three U.S. Navy vessels, the frigate USS Crommelin, the 
destroyer USS Kidd and the lead ship in the convoy, the guided-missile 
cruiser USS Fox. All five ships were flying the American flag. It was 
early in the morning and the convoy had just passed through the Strait of 
Hormuz. At about 0630 hours, the Bridgeton struck a mine. There were no 
casualties aboard.
