Adriatic Sea Conflict

Escort Search for Yugoslavian Submarines: 8 August 1993
Mission #1:
August 8. Take up picket duty and use your sensors to identify the assets
in the area. The recent deployment of C.I.S. ships headed toward Bosnia
and Herzegovina has warranted putting the U.S. ships in the Mediterranean
Sea on alert.

Background: A deployment of C.I.S. ships conducting an exercise in the
Ionian Sea began to steam north toward the hostile area between Bosnia and
Herzegovina. The C.I.S. battle group consisted of a Slava CG cruiser,
Udaloy DDG destroyer, two Krivak II FFGs fast frigates, Ugra AS Victor III
and possibly a Kilo or Tango submarine. Soon after this report came in,
the U.S. ships in the Mediterranean Sea were put on alert.
