You are the Captain of a Ticonderoga-class cruiser. From 1982 to 1993, you
will conduct naval warfare operations in a variety of settings and
conditions. The outcome of several major battles and wars will hinge on
your ability to correctly judge a threat and its severity and then
effectively deal with the threat utilizing state-of-the-art detection and
weapon systems.

The simulation is built around the premise that defines modern day
warfare: the winner of an engagement is the side that can detect an
opponent first and then be the "firstest with the mostest" in terms of
weapons delivery. You will be able to conduct over 100 historically based
naval missions. The simulation maintains a sense of realism while bringing
home an understanding that the loss of any ship or life is intolerable. To
that end, AEGIS: Guardian of the Fleet provides a tactically realistic
view of modern naval warfare through the examination of naval battles in
recent history.
