On Disk Monthly Editor:

I am amazed at the improvements you have made since I "dropped out" after issue #77. Not only is your VGA display far superior to your prior offerings, you have provided a windows-like effect even in a DOS environment.

As you can see, I followed your excellent instructions and your Joanelle font is now installed and in use. I also installed Circuitry and have tried it both in Windows and in DOS. I am amazed that the same program can look so different depending on environment, but I must admit I should have run the DOS version first because the Windows version doesn't tell me I must use the cursor arrows and space bar instead of the mouse.

Please continue providing complete installation instructions with your Windows applications. I copied Joanelle into \Windows\System but it didn't show up on my font list until I printed the instructions and performed steps 2 through 7. So much for short term memory! (At my age, that is the second thing to go!)

Cordially,
John R. Dye

Dear Sean

I am writing in reference to R. Kent's letter in ODM 86. I also experienced the same message of (not enough memory) so I played around with the different printer selections within that same file and selected one that printed out all the .PCX images beautifully. I usually select the (NEC 24 pin) to print the images, but this time I selected (Epson 9 pin Generic). As you can see, other than the printer needing a new ribbon the .PCX image printed just fine. I have a Tandy DMP 204 with color support. I hope this info might help someone else.

Consider me a happy customer. I like the product and the price, thank you.

Dear ODM:

I was not able to save .GIF files in a proper format for use in Western Vistas, it would be nice to see some wild life .GIFs for Western Vistas in the future. (What do I need to change high resolution .GIFs to a low resolution format?)

Delavan Lantis

{(Ed note: Western Vistas works with any .GIF file saved in 320x200 format.  To change a higher resolution file to a lower resolution may require a graphic utility program like Hijaak (c).  Most graphic productivity programs will let you save in different formats, but may require some extra effort on your part.)}

Dear ODM:

I would have liked to have been able to print out all of the "Fortunes" in Fortune Cookies, instead of viewing them randomly, one by one.

I wanted to use Western Vistas in my autoexec.bat file, so when I started my computer it would be the first thing that came on, but it didn't work. I would get your copyright message, but after that it would tell me it couldn't find the files.

Robert Andrews

{(Ed note: Western Vistas uses the current DOS directory to locate its files.  To make it work from the autoexec.bat file, simply put the line "CD \Vistas" [where "\Vistas" is the complete path to the directory where the files are located] before the line to execute the program.)}

Dear ODM:

The comedy corner is corny and the Techtoon is a waste of space.
