Dragon : 3-men keel boat 8.90 26.6 1700 24 10
The Dragon was designed in 1929 by the Norwegian Johan Anker.
The dragon has been recognised as an international class since
1950. In addition, the Dragon was also an Olympic class from
1948 until 1972.
The Dragon is an extremely graceful wooden or polyester keel
boat with a slender bermudan rig. In competitions the Dragon
is sailed with a 3-man crew. The boat has a comparatively
small sail area (25,6 m^2) when compared to the heavy ballast
keel (1000 kg), because of this the Dragon can take a lot of
wind. Because of it's good shape below the waterline, the
Dragon responds well to the helm no matter how far it is
heeling over.
