THEME PARK DEMO
COPYRIGHT 1993 - 1994
BULLFROG PRODUCTIONS LTD.

Welcome to the fantastic world of
Theme Park!

Being our extra special first visitor
you are entitled to a sneak preview of
the new park. But this isn't any old
park- no, it's all yours...

When your Great Aunt passed away
she left you a sum of money on one
condition: That you keep her
kindness and generosity alive by
building the World's greatest theme
park- a place where people can be
happy, interested, safe and
entertained. With this in mind you've
hired a plot of land from the
government and must now set about
building your theme park.

From the initial lump sum you will
have to design the layout and theme
of your wonderland, purchase rides,
hire staff and open snack shops while
staying on top of your resources and
making sure that everything is priced
correctly- or you'll go bust and spoil
everything, including Aunt's last
wish.

In this, the Demonstration Version,
you will be able to work from an
existing layout and add new features
as time passes.

Controlling the game is simple. Use
the Mouse to scroll around your plot
of land by holding the left mouse
button down and pushing the border.
You can also use the keyboard's
cursor keys.

Left click on the information bar at
the top of the screen to access the
system menu. From here you will be
able to change controls that will
affect the entire game. When an
option is faint it means you can't
change it. An option with a tick
before it means that it is activated.
An arrow means that a sub menu
hangs from this option and is
accessible by pushing the mouse in
that direction. Hint: For in game help
left click on the Park menu and
activate your Adviser.

Along the bottom of the screen is the
control panel- use this to modify your
park. The adviser will tell you what
these do.

When you enter Question Mode a
bank of indicators and buttons appear
on the control panel depending on the
feature that you left click on.

When you question a ride the
indicator bank is filled up with icons.
The first is an indicator of how long
the ride lasts before stopping. Left
click to make it last longer, right to
make it a short one. The second
indicator shows how full a ride must
be before it starts. Left click to start
it with many people, right to make it
a start sooner. The third indicator
shows how safe the ride is- send in
the mechanics and keep this low!
The button allows you to open
(green) or close (red) this ride. It's
always safer to close a faulty ride
immediately. The last button allows
you to alter the speed of the ride, but
be careful, left clicking the speed too
high will wear the ride out and make
it dangerous although you can always
right click it slower again.

Designing is simple. Choose the
feature you want either from the
menu (which gives more information)
or the window with a left click, move
to the area where you want it to go
and left click to lay. Rides have an
entrance and exit that you can place
anywhere around the platform that
holds the attraction.

Visitors will only go on rides that
have a Queue leading up to the
entrance. In fact your visitors are
very fussy indeed! They prefer
signposts to shops, rides and exits;
They admire pleasant scenery and
they become very worried if they lose
themselves in unmarked parts of the
park- so make sure you lay your
paths and signposts wisely.

Playing Theme Park will take a lot of
skill and finesse as you maintain your
theme in a pleasing way, while at the
same time, make prices just right to
ensure that you can continue
building. Keep an eye on the
visitors- they will tell you exactly
what they think. And listen to your
advisers they've been in the
wonderland business longer than you.

But that doesn't mean you can't have
fun, after all, it is your Theme Park.

There are numerous extra features
that will be present in the full game
these include:
